Best Suno Prompt Examples and Writing Tips
Updated August 31, 2026 · 5 minute read
A useful Suno prompt describes musical decisions rather than simply listing adjectives. The best prompts give direction while leaving enough room for the model to create a coherent song.
A practical prompt formula
Combine genre, mood, tempo, instrumentation, vocal character, production style and structure. For example: “Energetic synth-pop at an up-tempo pace, bright analog synths, punchy electronic drums, expressive female vocal, a concise verse and a large memorable chorus, polished modern production and a clean ending.”
Prompt examples
Cinematic
Emotional cinematic ballad, slow build from intimate piano to strings and large percussion, restrained male vocal, vivid imagery, dramatic bridge and an uplifting final chorus.
Electronic
Dreamy melodic electronic track, mid-tempo groove, warm pads, arpeggiated synths, deep bass, airy duet vocals and a spacious festival-ready chorus.
Acoustic
Intimate acoustic folk song, finger-picked guitar, light brushed percussion, natural room sound, close female vocal, conversational verses and a gentle memorable hook.
Avoid common mistakes
Do not overload the prompt with conflicting genres or ten different moods. Avoid asking for direct imitation of living artists or protected songs. Describe the musical qualities you want instead. Use our free prompt generator to create a structured starting point, then personalize it.
